Haute-Corse under orange alert for thunderstorms and risk of flooding

The department of Haute-Corse is on alert. Météo-France has placed the region under orange vigilance this Tuesday, September 17, due to the risk of thunderstorms and “rain-flooding”. Rainfall is expected to begin this afternoon and intensify in the evening, becoming stormy from 8pm onwards, according to the Météo-France bulletin.

Rainfall could reach intensities of 20 to 30 mm per hour, with precipitation expected to continue “until at least Wednesday evening”. Expected rainfall totals for the duration of the episode could vary between 80 and 100 mm, with local peaks of 150 mm or more, according to Météo-France.
