A 26-Year-Old Woman Dies in the Emergency Room at Villeneuve-Saint-Georges: Investigation Underway
On Friday, January 10, a 26-year-old patient tragically passed away in the waiting room of the emergency department at the Intercommunal Hospital Center of Villeneuve-Saint-Georges (CHIV), in Val-de-Marne. The Créteil prosecutor’s office has confirmed the opening of an investigation into the causes of death, with an autopsy scheduled to shed light on the circumstances of this tragedy, currently described as unexplained.
According to available information, the young woman, who had been examined the previous day, returned to the emergency room for reasons yet unknown. She was found unconscious in the waiting room, where her death was later confirmed. In a statement, the hospital’s management expressed its support for the family and pledged full cooperation with the police.
A Strained Hospital Context
This incident occurs amid significant pressure on the hospital, which has been struggling with overcapacity and staffing shortages. These challenges recently led to an 11-day strike by healthcare workers, which ended on January 7, just three days before the tragedy.
This event is reminiscent of another recent death at the Longjumeau Hospital emergency room, where a 20-year-old woman, suffering from an undisclosed condition, passed away after a sudden deterioration in her health.
Authorities continue to investigate both cases to determine the causes and identify any contributing factors behind these unfortunate losses.
