Orange Alert for “Snow and Ice”: Allier, Creuse, and Puy-de-Dôme on High Alert This Saturday

Significant snowfall expected, with potential road disruptions

Three departments in the Massif Central — Creuse, Puy-de-Dôme, and Allier — will be placed under an orange alert for snow and ice starting Saturday, March 15. The alert, issued by Météo-France, will begin at 6 a.m. for Allier and Puy-de-Dôme and at 9 a.m. for Creuse. This snowy event is expected to last until Sunday morning, with snowfall that could cause disruptions on the roads.

Météo-France predicts snow accumulations of 2 to 5 cm in the plains, with some areas potentially seeing up to 10 cm. Above 400 meters in altitude, snowfall is expected to intensify, with accumulations ranging from 10 to 15 cm. Authorities advise extra caution on the roads, as they may become slippery and challenging, particularly in higher areas.

The forecast predicts difficult weather conditions with reduced visibility and snowy roads, making travel more difficult throughout the weekend. Météo-France recommends taking extra precautions and adjusting travel plans accordingly.
