Gabriel Attal on BFMTV: three key points to remember

With ten days to go before the parliamentary elections and two weeks after the European elections, Gabriel Attal, guest on BFMTV on Thursday 20 June, discussed the crucial issues at stake in the vote and expressed his concerns about a victory for the extremes.

A country divided into “three blocs

Gabriel Attal analysed the current political situation, pointing out that the French have three major choices: the far right with Jordan Bardella, the LFI-Nupes alliance led by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, and himself at the head of the majority. He acknowledged his party’s defeat at the European elections and stressed the importance of the upcoming legislative elections. Attal warned that a victory for the extremes would be catastrophic for the French, citing in particular the concerns of business representatives.

An “absolutely atrocious” act in Courbevoie

Reacting to the rape of a young girl in Courbevoie, Gabriel Attal expressed his support and solidarity with the victim and her family. He strongly condemned this atrocious act and stressed the importance of severely punishing the perpetrators, who have already been arrested and detained.

Anti-Semitism in the political landscape

Attal warned of the rise in anti-Semitism since 7 October and stressed the need for politicians to combat all forms of discrimination. He criticised some parties, notably La France Insoumise and the far right, for failing to put in place sufficient barriers against anti-Semitism, claiming that legislative candidates have helped to trivialise such hate speech. These key points demonstrate the importance of the legislative elections and the challenges facing French society
