US offensive against Daesh in Syria: more than 75 targets hit
On Sunday 8 December, the US armed forces carried out a series of air strikes in central Syria, targeting more than 75 positions held by Daesh, according to an announcement by Centcom, the US military command for the Middle East.
Determined action to prevent the resurgence of the EI
‘There should be no doubt: we will not allow the Islamic State to reconstitute itself or take advantage of the current situation in Syria,’ said General Michael Erik Kurilla in an official statement.
These strikes come against a backdrop of major upheaval, marked by a lightning offensive by rebel groups that led to the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
