French GDP growth in the first quarter: According to the latest report from INSEE, France’s gross domestic product (GDP) rose by 0.2% in the first quarter of 2024, driven by household consumption and business investment

Reaction from the Minister for the Economy: Bruno Le Maire, Minister for the Economy, hailed this growth as a sign of the strength of the French economy and said that the government’s strategy was bearing fruit.

Another indication of growth: INSEE also revealed a 0.4% increase in household consumption in March compared with the previous month.
