Solving the riddle of “La Chouette d’or”: announcement of a film and a new treasure hunt
Michel Becker, co-creator of the “La Chouette d’or” treasure hunt, announced this Sunday, October 13, that the riddle has been solved. In a video posted on YouTube, he revealed that the solutions will be unveiled in a film scheduled for next April, marking the game’s 32nd anniversary.
A discovery revealed
The discovery of the Golden Owl took place on the night of October 2-3, 2024. Becker confirmed that the solution found is “rigorously accurate” and precisely describes the location of the cache. He also shared that a new treasure hunt will be launched, with a new Golden Owl emerging from the same location as the old one from April 24.
The mystery of resolution
In the ten-minute-plus video, Becker recounts how he was informed of the puzzle’s resolution. He explains that he received a call from an unknown number at 10.58pm, followed by another call at 11.03pm containing a recorded message. He describes the caller’s excitement and emotion, sharing the good news while still in shock from the event.
At 11:22 p.m., the solution was recorded in the database. Becker points out that after receiving “22,531 solutions”, the one validated is the only correct one, leaving no room for doubt or dispute.
As for the winner of this treasure hunt, he chose to remain anonymous, leaving the mystery unanswered. Becker reveals that “the owl is now far from France”.
A film to bring the enigma to life
As for the film, it was decided to produce it to bring the solutions to the riddle to life, rather than simply publishing them in a book. A casting call option will be set up on the official “La Chouette d’or” website so that participants can share their stories, and selected authors will become actors in their own stories.
