Several women have lodged at least five complaints against Sébastien Cauet, accusing him of rape and sexual assault. Sources close to the case told H24 NEWS that Sébastien Cauet has been in the custody of the minors’ brigade since Wednesday 22 May morning, when he was summoned for questioning

These complainants have been successively questioned by the minors’ brigade since the beginning of the year. Sébastien Cauet maintains his innocence and has himself lodged complaints, notably for slanderous denunciation and attempted aggravated extortion. The host had already been heard by the personal crime squad as a complainant at the end of last year.

His lawyers, Simon Clemenceau and Xavier Autain, state that Sébastien Cauet went freely and at his own request to answer the investigators’ questions. They also stressed the principle of presumption of innocence and called for restraint.

Through his lawyers, Sébastien Cauet points out that an investigation is underway into cyber-harassment, slanderous denunciation and attempted extortion. He hopes that the perpetrators will be arrested and brought to trial. However, his lawyers regret that the ongoing extortion investigation has not been dealt with more quickly by the Nanterre public prosecutor’s office to put an end to these offences.
