School Bus Accident in Eure-et-Loir: One Student Killed, Dozens Injured

A school bus accident occurred on the morning of Thursday, January 30, on the D927 near Châteaudun (Eure-et-Loir). The vehicle, carrying students, overturned on the road. The prefecture confirmed the death of a high school student and reported around forty injuries, including 31 students. Fortunately, none of the injuries are life-threatening.

Emergency services quickly responded, with forty firefighters and six rescue vehicles deployed to the scene. A mobile medical unit was set up, and a psychological emergency support unit was activated to assist the victims and their families.

Education Minister Élisabeth Borne reacted with “deep emotion and immense sadness.” Speaking from Mayotte, she extended her condolences to the victim’s family and expressed her support for the educational community. She also announced that she would visit Émile Zola High School on Monday morning.

The cause of the accident remains unknown at this stage. A judicial investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances of the tragedy.
