Roberta Flack’s international career took off in the late 1960s, with her first hit, The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, being featured in Clint Eastwood’s film Play Misty for Me in 1971. This success was followed by several more, including the iconic Killing Me Softly with His Song, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 1973 and was later famously covered by the Fugees in 1996.
