This Wednesday, Marine Tondelier denounced the responsibility of La France insoumise and the Socialist Party in the failure to reach an agreement on the future Prime Minister within the New Popular Front (NFP) formations
Marine Tondelier is at her wits’ end. The leader of the ecologists has expressed her anger, disgust, fatigue and sadness at the spectacle offered by the NFP to the French, as she declared on France 2 on July 17.
The reason for this unease? For the past ten days, following the second round of legislative elections, the NFP formations have been unable to agree on a candidate for Matignon. Marine Tondelier attributes this failure to a “leadership war” and points the finger at the Socialists and Communists: the former vetoed Huguette Bello, while the latter rejected Laurence Tubiana.
“We’re talking about Huguette Bello, Laurence Tubiana, but in the end, it’s Laurent Wauquiez who’s likely to win,” warned the Ecologists’ national secretary. “Every hour and every minute of ridicule we offer strengthens the RN vote. It will be no use coming looking for me in 2027 with my green jacket to call for a Republican front,” warned Marine Tondelier. “You can’t raise so much hope and then disappoint so much.”
