Pierre Palmade Remains in Prison After Prosecutor’s Appeal Against His Electronic Bracelet Release
The justice system had initially approved Pierre Palmade’s request to serve the remainder of his sentence under electronic monitoring. However, this decision was suspended on Wednesday, March 26, after the Bordeaux prosecutor’s office filed an appeal. As a result, the comedian remains incarcerated at Gradignan Prison (Gironde) while awaiting a new review of his case, which could take up to two months.
A Suspended Sentence Adjustment
Sentenced last November to five years in prison, including two years without parole, Pierre Palmade is currently serving his sentence after causing a serious car accident in February 2023 while under the influence of drugs. Three people were injured, including a pregnant woman who lost her baby.
During his hearing before the sentence enforcement judge on March 11, his lawyers emphasized his health condition and the need for appropriate medical care, arguing in favor of electronic bracelet monitoring. They also highlighted that he was subject to a mandatory treatment plan.
While detained in Gradignan, the comedian benefits from a special incarceration regime reserved for high-profile inmates or those in sensitive professions. He has a private cell and personalized exercise schedules. His fate now depends on the court’s decision, which will rule on the prosecutor’s appeal in the coming weeks.
