Paris public prosecutor’s office announces eight more arrests in the case of Mohamed Amra’s escape

New Arrests in the Mohamed Amra Escape Case

On Monday, March 3, the Paris prosecutor’s office announced the arrest of eight new suspects in connection with the investigation into the dramatic escape of Mohamed Amra in May 2024. The drug trafficker was apprehended in Romania on February 22, ending several months on the run. The arrested suspects are currently in police custody under the supervision of the investigating judges of the National Jurisdiction for the Fight Against Organized Crime (Junalco).

A Network Dismantled Over Time

Before this latest series of arrests, 18 individuals had already been apprehended and indicted. Of these, fourteen presumed accomplices were placed in pre-trial detention, while four others were placed under judicial supervision. The prosecutor’s office also stated that three suspects had been arrested abroad: one in Spain and two in Morocco, who are awaiting extradition to France.

Multiple Complicities and a Targeted Convoy

These individuals are suspected of having participated, to varying degrees, in the organization of Mohamed Amra’s escape, including the operation that took place at the Incarville toll station (Eure). This violent operation claimed the lives of two prison officers, Arnaud Garcia and Fabrice Moello, while three others were injured in the convoy attack. Some of those indicted are accused of aiding the drug trafficker in his escape after the breakout.

The investigation continues to determine the full extent of each suspect’s responsibility and to shed light on this case that has deeply impacted French security forces.
