Arrests in the investigation into the death of Nicolas Dumas in Ardèche

As part of the investigation into the death of Nicolas Dumas, the young rugby player killed as he left a discotheque in Saint-Péray, two arrests have been made, one in Marseille and the other in the Vaucluse region.

The first arrest was made by the Brigade anti-criminalité nord (BAC) in Marseille’s 15th arrondissement. A man suspected of involvement in the case was apprehended at around 6 p.m. in the Bricarde district, sitting on a chair at a drug-dealing point. According to information obtained by H24 MEDIA from police sources, investigators had received indications that he had taken refuge in this housing estate. He is currently in police custody and being questioned by the authorities.

The second arrest took place on Monday evening in Cavaillon, Vaucluse. A dozen agents from the Division de la criminalité organisée et spécialisée (DCOS) in Valence raided the home of another individual. This arrest marks an important step in the ongoing investigation.

Background to the Saint-Péray shooting

Nicolas lost his life following a shooting incident on the night of Thursday October 31st to Friday November 1st, outside a nightclub in Saint-Péray, near Valence. Two other people were injured, although their lives are reportedly not in danger. Concordant sources indicate that this tragic event could be linked to drug trafficking.

The investigation has been entrusted to the Privas public prosecutor’s office in Ardèche, and this tragedy echoes the death of Thomas, a 16-year-old high school student stabbed to death a year earlier at a village festival in Crépol, in the Drôme region, a few dozen kilometers from Saint-Péray.
