In the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, around 1 a.m., a tragic accident occurred on Rue de la Lauch, in the sensitive district of Cité de l’Ill, in the northern part of Strasbourg. A 15-year-old teenager was hit by a vehicle, whose driver fled the scene, leaving the victim seriously injured on the ground

Emergency services quickly responded and transported the young man to the hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries. The area, equipped with surveillance cameras, is now under investigation to clarify the circumstances of the tragedy.

The suspect, a man just of legal age, turned himself in to the Strasbourg police station on Wednesday evening, where he was immediately taken into custody. The public prosecutor’s office confirmed that he is being questioned for “involuntary manslaughter with hit-and-run.”

In a statement, Jeanne Barseghian, the mayor of Strasbourg, expressed her condolences to the victim’s family, stating that “all light must be shed on the circumstances of this tragedy, and everything will be done to ensure that justice is served.”
