This morning, the Prime Minister spoke during the “8h30 franceinfo” programme on Tuesday 18 June

According to Gabriel Attal, a guest on franceinfo on Tuesday, the far-right and far-left parties are “promising us a fiscal bludgeoning at every level”. With less than two weeks to go until the first round of legislative elections, following Emmanuel Macron’s dissolution of the National Assembly after the European elections, the Prime Minister said there will be no tax increases if there is a majority.

“In this campaign, I pledge to put in place what we call a golden rule against raising taxes,” Gabriel Attal told Jérôme Chapuis and Sahlia Brakhlia

Gabriel Attal also promised that “if the Ensemble pour la République candidates are elected, a new law to combat tax and social security fraud will be adopted this summer, with new measures. For example, measures against fraud involving public subsidies, particularly in the energy sector. We will be strengthening the investigative resources of the anti-fraud services”, he added.

Finally, the Prime Minister expressed his wish that “next year, we will be able to implement solidarity at source: if the State knows how much you earn so that it can deduct tax, it must also know how to pay you what you are entitled to, particularly for aid that some French people do not claim”.
