Swedish Justice Closes Investigation Involving Kylian Mbappé

A Case Dropped Due To Insufficient Evidence

Swedish authorities officially announced on Thursday, December 12, the closure of the rape investigation in which Kylian Mbappé’s name had been mentioned by several media outlets. According to Marina Chirakova, the prosecutor in charge of the case, the investigation failed to gather sufficient evidence to proceed. Although a person was initially suspected of rape and two cases of sexual harassment were identified, the findings did not warrant prosecution. “The individual identified has not been suspected of any crime,” the magistrate stated in a press release.

Media Storm Surrounding Mbappé

Since the case came to light in October, during an international break in Stockholm, Kylian Mbappé has consistently denied any involvement, calling the allegations “fake news.” In a recent interview on the Canal+ show Clique, the player stated that he did not feel concerned: “I haven’t received anything, no summons. I have the same information as everyone else from the press. I don’t even know who the complainant is.”

These accusations, heavily covered in Scandinavian, French, and international media, sparked widespread debate and controversy. Mbappé had expressed his willingness to cooperate if contacted by the authorities, but the closure of the case makes this unnecessary.

A Clear Resolution For Mbappé

The end of the investigation marks the conclusion of a turbulent period for the French national team captain and Real Madrid forward. Despite the speculation, Swedish justice never officially named him in the proceedings and confirmed that the evidence was insufficient to support the allegations. With this decision, Kylian Mbappé can now move on from this legal episode.
