The Princess of Wales took part in a parade to celebrate King Charles III’s birthday in London

Six months after her last public appearance, Princess Kate, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer, made her grand return to London on Saturday 15 June for the military parade marking the birthday of King Charles III. Dressed in a long white coat and wearing a hat, the Princess of Wales, 42, appeared smiling as she waved to the crowds from the carriage that was taking her and her three children – George, Charlotte and Louis – from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade Square, the venue for the ceremony.

She then got out of the coach to watch the rest of the ceremony, called “Trooping the Colour”, from an official building. Later, she was to accompany the Royal Family to the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the traditional salute. The King, who is also undergoing treatment for cancer, also took part in the parade in his honour. He travelled along The Mall, the avenue running from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade, in a carriage, accompanied by Queen Camilla.

“In a message published on Friday evening, Prince William’s wife gave an update on her health for the first time since the announcement of her illness in March.

“I’m making good progress, but as anyone undergoing chemotherapy knows, there are good days and bad days.”

The princess accompanied this message with a photo taken this week in Windsor. She explained that her treatment would continue “for several more months”. “I am looking forward to attending the King’s birthday parade this weekend with my family and hope to be able to take part in some public engagements this summer, although I know I am not out of the woods yet”, she wrote, thanking the public for their support.
