The investigation at the European Parliament appears to be gathering pace, as new searches were carried out on Monday in connection with suspicions of corruption in Qatar

Eva Kaili and three other people have already been in prison since Sunday. However, as democracy is under attack, there will be no diplomatic immunity for its Maltese president, Roberta Metsola, warned.

The investigation concerns the corruption of senior civil servants, as well as banks and football personalities.

Eva Kaili’s imprisonment has caused a veritable tsunami within the European institution, which prides itself on unfailing integrity. How can credibility be restored after such suspicions? Nevertheless, it would appear that the courts have full powers to shed light on what already seems to be an affair that extends far beyond Europe’s borders!
