Inflation down sharply in September: +1.2% year-on-year

Consumer prices in France rose by 1.2% year-on-year in September, marking a clear decline on the 1.8% inflation seen in August, according to a first estimate published this Friday by Insee.

This deceleration is mainly due to the slower pace of growth in services prices, which fell from +3% in August to +2.5% in September. In addition, energy prices fell by 3.3%, and those of manufactured goods fell by 0.3%, contributing to this easing of inflation, explains the National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies.
