The actor, who is already under investigation for rape in a separate case, was questioned in police custody all day on Monday about accusations made by at least two women
The Paris public prosecutor’s office has announced that actor Gérard Depardieu will stand trial for sexual assault in October 2024. After a day in police custody, he was summoned to appear before the criminal court. The alleged acts took place in September 2021 on the set of the film Les Volets verts, involving two victims, according to the public prosecutor.
Gérard Depardieu went to the offices of the Paris judicial police early in the morning and was officially taken into custody. He was confronted by several complainants throughout the day. His lawyer confirmed that he left the police station in the early evening.
The Paris public prosecutor’s office also pointed out that the actor is still under investigation for rape and sexual assault in another case dating back to August 2018, involving Charlotte Arnould. The examining magistrate recently completed his investigations and passed the case to the public prosecutor to decide on the next steps. A second trial could therefore be on the cards for the actor.
