The incidents took place at the Fresnes-lès-Montauban toll plaza, around sixty kilometres from Lille, two hours before kick-off of the French Cup final

According to a police source told H24 MEDIA, clashes broke out between Olympique Lyonnais and Paris Saint-Germain supporters, as well as with the police, at a motorway toll plaza near Arras (Pas-de-Calais) on Saturday 25 May. In addition, two buses were set alight and the tollgate partially destroyed, two hours before kick-off of the Coupe de France final in Lille (Nord). The incidents took place at the Fresnes-lès-Montauban toll plaza, around sixty kilometres from Lille.

According to the same police source, this was a meeting point for fan buses, with a mobile CRS force present at the scene. No interpretation was given and six police officers were slightly injured. During the day, Paris fans, but especially Lyon fans, livened up the streets of Lille city centre in a festive atmosphere, according to an AFP journalist. A large police presence was deployed in the city, as the Nord prefecture had taken a number of administrative measures due to the classification of the match as a very high-risk event.
