Collision between an RER D train and a piece of construction equipment: traffic disruption in the Essonne department
At around 11am on Monday 21 October, an RER D train collided with a piece of construction equipment at Fontenay-le-Vicomte, as reported by H24 MEDIA, confirming information from Le Parisien. It should be noted that the vehicle involved in the accident was not SNCF equipment.
As a result of this incident, rail traffic was suspended between Corbeil-Essonnes and Malesherbes in both directions until 6pm to allow the track to be cleaned.
The collision left three people injured, but they are considered to be in ‘relative emergency’ and did not require hospitalisation. To help passengers affected by the disruption, eight emergency workers were deployed to the scene, directing passengers to a school provided by the local council. In addition, replacement buses were organised to enable passengers to continue their journey.
