Yerres (Essonne): 17-Year-Old Teen Fatally Stabbed in Front of a High School, Six Arrested

A 17-year-old teenager was fatally stabbed during a brawl involving around fifteen youths on Monday, March 24, in front of the Louis-Armand vocational high school in Yerres (Essonne). Emergency services found him conscious with a wound to the chest. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

According to the Versailles Academy, the youths involved were armed with sticks and a knife. Six of them have been arrested. This tragedy is part of ongoing tensions between the Hautes-Mardelles neighborhood in Brunoy and the Tournelles neighborhood in Yerres.

Amid this rise in youth clashes, the CRS 8 riot police unit was deployed as reinforcements at 6 p.m. The incident occurred as a meeting was being held at the Essonne prefecture to discuss the issue of brawls, attended by mayors and law enforcement officials.

The Évry prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation for “voluntary homicide” and “intentional violence in a group.” In recent days, authorities have observed a concerning increase in these violent incidents, prompting security reinforcements across the department.
