Éric Zemmour has strongly criticised Marion Maréchal, his head of list for the European elections, for what he claims is a betrayal of his trust

He expressed his indignation on BFMTV following Marion Maréchal’s call for candidates backed by the Rassemblement National in the forthcoming legislative elections. Zemmour said he felt both disgusted and hurt by the decision, accusing her of having negotiated positions within the Rassemblement National for her allies, to the detriment of Reconquête.

He also criticised the behaviour of the members of Reconquête, claiming that Marion Maréchal had abandoned the activists who had supported her, comparing them to dogs or old socks. In response to these actions, Zemmour announced the exclusion of Marion Maréchal, as well as Nicolas Bay and Guillaume Peltier, all executive vice-presidents of Reconquête, whom he described as accomplices in this “betrayal”. Laurence Trochu, a member of Reconquête’s political committee, has also been expelled.

Zemmour believes that Marion Maréchal has excluded herself from the party she has always despised, joining the family camp, in reference to her links with the Rassemblement National. He attributed these divisions to strategic disagreements and the behaviour of Marion Maréchal’s clan, specifying that he could withdraw certain Reconquête candidates in favour of the Rassemblement National, but only within the framework of negotiations. No doubt to silence those who had doubts about Zemmour’s ability to turn his coat!
