In Valence, in the Drôme region, a dramatic incident took place on the evening of Saturday 14 September. A motorist was violently assaulted after a collision with another vehicle, and did not survive his injuries

It all started at around 10.30pm, when a man at the wheel of a Peugeot 307 gave chase to a Renault Clio before deliberately hitting it. The situation quickly escalated: the assailant got out of his vehicle, pulled the other driver out of his car and violently punched and kicked him in the face.

Despite the swift intervention of the police officers on the scene, the victim, a 30-year-old man, died as a result of this violent attack. The assailant fled the scene.

According to the information gathered, the victim was known to the judicial authorities, although the precise circumstances have not yet been clarified. Later that night, the alleged assailant’s Peugeot 307 was found burnt out, according to the newspaper Le Dauphiné Libéré.
