Cyril Hanouna Joins W9 and Fun Radio After C8’s Closure

After weeks of speculation, Cyril Hanouna announced on February 27 that he will join W9 and Fun Radio starting September 1. This transition follows the closure of C8, whose TNT frequency will not be renewed by Arcom due to repeated breaches of audiovisual regulations, resulting in €7.6 million in fines.

Starting in September, the controversial host will lead a daily show on W9 and an afternoon program on Fun Radio. Until then, he will continue broadcasting his show live on Dailymotion, YouTube, and certain internet boxes, ensuring continuity for his loyal audience.

A Turbulent Arrival at M6 Group

The decision to join M6 Group, which owns W9 and Fun Radio, was not without controversy. The journalist societies of M6 and RTL had expressed reservations about Hanouna’s arrival. Likewise, Karine Le Marchand, a prominent M6 figure, initially opposed the move before stating she would remain vigilant but no longer block the decision after discussions with management.

C8 and NRJ12 are set to go off the air at midnight on February 28, marking the end of an era for Hanouna and his flagship show Touche pas à mon poste, which will air on his own WebTV starting March 3, from 6:40 PM to 9:15 PM.

Despite the controversies, this new chapter on W9 will focus on entertainment, steering away from the political debates that characterized the show’s recent years. Hanouna also expressed gratitude to Vincent Bolloré, owner of Canal+, reaffirming their friendship despite his departure from the group.

With this new venture, Cyril Hanouna seems ready to bounce back, while leaving the door open for future projects — possibly eyeing 2027. His arrival on W9 marks the beginning of a new chapter for the host, who shows no sign of stepping away from French television anytime soon.
