Socialist Party: a historic pillar of the French left
The Socialist Party (PS), founded in 1969, is one of the main left-wing political parties in France. Heir to a long socialist tradition, it defends the values of social justice, solidarity and equality. The PS has left its mark on French political history with emblematic figures such as François Mitterrand, the first Socialist president of the Fifth Republic, and has been behind many major social reforms. Today, it is striving to renew its project in response to contemporary issues, particularly ecological and economic.
