“This illegitimate government must fall”: La France Insoumise reacts after the use of Article 49.3
On Monday, February 3, after the Prime Minister invoked Article 49.3 twice to pass the state budget and the first part of the social security budget without a vote by the deputies, La France Insoumise reacted strongly. The movement announced the filing of two motions of censure and expressed its outrage on X.
“This illegitimate government must fall,” declared the political group. Manuel Bompard, coordinator of La France Insoumise, added on the same social network: “Censuring the government will stop this disastrous budget, with its devastating cuts in ecology, housing, labor, education, and research, as well as measures that will impact the purchasing power of the French.”
However, these motions of censure are unlikely to be passed, as the Socialist deputies have stated they will not censure the government. They did, however, announce in a statement on X that they would file a motion of censure against the Bayrou government after the budget’s adoption.
