In an open letter to Gérald Darmanin, Brigitte Bardot and her foundation call on the Interior Minister to become their ally in the fight against the Aveyron prefect’s decision to authorise the culling of stray dogs to protect flocks
She strongly condemned the measure, describing the order as criminal and accusing prefects of playing cowboys. Bardot is urging the Minister to take steps to punish these actions and prevent similar initiatives in the future.
The President of the Bardot Foundation expressed her deep dismay at these practices, pointing out that France is a hotbed of barbarity when it comes to the treatment of animals, citing bullfighting, hunting with hounds and force-feeding in particular. Despite the need to protect herds, she believes that shooting dogs and wolves is an idiotic and pointless reflex that does not solve the problem.
Brigitte Bardot implores the Minister of the Interior to become her ally in this fight, underlining the urgent need to act to put an end to this vicious and deadly spiral. She reminds the Minister of his commitment to animal protection and asks him to take immediate action to stop these inhumane practices.
