Tragedy in Haute-Saône: four dead, including an infant, in accident on RN19
A tragic road accident occurred this Saturday afternoon in Haute-Saône, on the RN19 near the town of Frotey-lès-Vesoul. A head-on collision between a car and a truck resulted in four fatalities, including an infant, according to information from France Bleue Haute-Saône confirmed by H24 MEDIA.
The accident took place around 2:00 p.m. when an Audi A3, traveling in the Lure-Vesoul direction, suddenly swerved off its lane and collided with an oncoming truck. Despite the efforts of firefighters from Vesoul and Lure, the four occupants of the car—two men, a woman, and an infant—did not survive the impact. The rescue teams worked for over an hour to extricate the victims.
A subsequent “secondary accident” occurred, involving the two vehicles following the Audi, but only four people sustained minor injuries. They were transported to the Vesoul hospital. The truck driver, in shock, was also taken care of by medical teams.
Traffic was interrupted for several hours before being reopened later in the afternoon. Authorities set up a psychological emergency support unit to assist witnesses and those affected by the tragedy.
