The Élysée announces the appointment of the new Prime minister for friday morning

Barely had the presidential plane landed near Paris, following a visit to Poland, when the Élysée revealed that the new Prime Minister would not be appointed on Thursday evening, contrary to the initial plan.

“The official appointment announcement will be made on Friday morning,” stated Emmanuel Macron’s entourage to France Télévisions, confirming that the white smoke over Matignon will not appear tonight.

Regarding the delay compared to the original timeline, the president’s team explained that this extra time allows Emmanuel Macron to “conclude his consultations” on selecting Michel Barnier’s successor.
