Donald Trump Confirms His Attendance in Paris for the Reopening of Notre-Dame

On his social media platform, Truth Social, Donald Trump officially announced his visit to Paris this Saturday, December 7, to attend the highly anticipated reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral. His participation, previously uncertain, is now confirmed.

“I am honored to announce that I will be in Paris, France, this Saturday to witness the reopening of the magnificent and historic Notre-Dame Cathedral, fully restored after a devastating fire five years ago,” said the President-elect of the United States. He also praised the “remarkable work” achieved under the leadership of French President Emmanuel Macron.

An American delegation in attendance

In addition to Donald Trump, First Lady Jill Biden has also confirmed her participation in the ceremony, as previously announced by the Élysée at the end of November.

Pope Francis absent, but a meeting scheduled

Pope Francis, however, will not attend this symbolic reopening. Instead, the pontiff is scheduled to meet with Emmanuel Macron on December 15 in Ajaccio, Corsica. According to several French bishops, this decision reflects both his commitment to the “peripheries” and scheduling constraints in Rome.

A night of grand celebrations

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Notre-Dame is a jewel of Christendom and an iconic monument that once welcomed 12 million visitors annually. Its reopening will be marked by exceptional celebrations.

A grand concert will conclude the day on December 7. Clara Luciani, Vianney, Garou, along with international stars such as conductor Gustavo Dudamel and French DJ Michaël Canitrot, are among the performers expected to grace this memorable evening.
