On Monday, Nicolas Heitz announced the launch of a judicial investigation and stated that, at this stage, all hypotheses regarding the disappearance of the 13-year-old middle school student were being explored

The public prosecutor of Saint-Brieuc, Nicolas Heitz, held a press conference on Monday, December 2, a week after the worrying disappearance of young Morgane, 13, in Côtes-d’Armor.

Morgane remains missing despite the intense efforts made by law enforcement. During the conference, the prosecutor provided updates on the progress of the investigation and various measures taken. The last time she was seen was at 7:45 a.m. on Monday, November 25, as she left her home to go to school, but she never arrived at her destination.

A New Worrying Discovery

A new development in this investigation was the discovery by the gendarmes of a “crumpled paper” in the young girl’s trash, which read: “Dad, mom, sorry I’m leaving.” The prosecutor also clarified that Morgane had never shown signs of running away or expressed suicidal intentions. Her parents, who have been interviewed several times, described a “harmonious” relationship with their eldest daughter and a “normal” family life.

Intensified Search Efforts and Multiple Investigations

Colonel Stéphane Privat, head of the Côtes-d’Armor gendarmerie, highlighted the resources deployed to find Morgane. Canine units, including a Saint-Hubert dog, have been involved in the search. All scent trails have led to the Castel-Pic neighborhood in Guingamp, located a few kilometers from the girl’s home. A door-to-door operation was carried out in this area, and all vacant properties were inspected. “Currently, a drone is still conducting searches in hard-to-reach areas,” added Colonel Privat.

Nearby waterways have been searched without success, and investigations were conducted across a large area north of Morgane’s residence, with the help of nearly 800 volunteers who explored the woods and fields on foot and by bike.

Additionally, neighborhood inquiries were conducted, checks were made on the route Morgane took to reach the bus stop, and digital investigations were carried out. “All human and technical resources of the gendarmerie continue to be mobilized to find Morgane,” stated Stéphane Privat. He also noted that an email address had been set up to collect written testimonies, in addition to the 110 reports already received by phone: morgane[at]gendarmerie.interieur.gouv.fr.

Concerning Leads and Revealing Testimonies

Since the disappearance, about a hundred witnesses have been interviewed, helping to create a profile of the young girl. Her friends and classmates describe her as “kind, discreet, reserved, even shy.” However, some mentioned worrying comments and signs of distress. Additionally, peers reported that Morgane may have engaged in “self-harm” and mentioned to a tennis teacher that she had been bullied the previous year.

This disappearance raises significant questions, and investigators continue to put all necessary efforts into finding young Morgane.
