Financial Dispute Between Kylian Mbappé and PSG: The Player Brings the Case to the LFP Disciplinary Commission

A new chapter in the ongoing standoff between Kylian Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). For several months, the striker and the Parisian club have been embroiled in a financial dispute, and this week, Mbappé has decided to bring the case before the Ligue de football professionnel (LFP) disciplinary commission, citing “non-payment of bonuses and wages.” The hearing is scheduled for December 11.

The conflict dates back to an agreement signed in August 2023, when the player was sidelined after refusing to extend his contract with PSG. This extension would have allowed the club to receive funds from a potential transfer, but Mbappé chose to join Real Madrid this summer as a free agent. The agreement stated that the striker would forgo 55 million euros in bonuses if he left without a transfer fee. However, the validity of this agreement is now being questioned by the player’s camp, which disputes its legitimacy.

PSG, for its part, rejected the demand for the 55 million euros, even after instructions from the LFP legal commission on September 11, followed by a dismissal from the appeal joint commission on October 25. Additionally, the French Football Federation (FFF) also denied the club’s request, deeming it out of time.
