A New Wave of Mobilization Announced by FNSEA for Farmers
The president of FNSEA, Arnaud Rousseau, has confirmed a new series of actions by farmers, scheduled for December 9 and 10 across France. These mobilizations will focus on critical issues for the sector: farmers’ income and commercial relations regarding product pricing.
“This mobilization will revolve around income and the relationship with the pricing of our products, particularly in the context of the start of commercial negotiations with distributors. We will be taking action,” stated Arnaud Rousseau during an interview on RMC. These actions aim to conclude discussions with the Prime Minister in hopes of achieving tangible results for the agricultural community.
Context of the Mobilizations
This announcement follows a series of protests that have previously targeted the EU-Mercosur agreement and the simplification of agricultural standards. On Thursday, a group of around one hundred farmers built a wall of concrete blocks in front of the Paris headquarters of the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food, and the Environment (Inrae). They accuse the institute of failing to provide them with the means to produce efficiently, while imposing increasingly heavy constraints.
These actions highlight the determination of farmers to defend their working conditions and secure a sustainable future for their profession.
