The Belgian police have announced that they have located the vehicle used by the parents of Santiago, who was taken from the maternity hospital where he was receiving treatment. The car was found in the Charleroi area
On Wednesday 23 October, H24 NEWS reported that the car used by the parents suspected of taking their child from the Robert-Ballanger hospital in Aulnay-sous-Bois had been identified in Belgium, confirming a report by AFP. The vehicle, whose image and French number plate appeared in the wanted notice issued the previous day, was discovered between 9 and 10 am.
The parents, aged 23 and 25, are suspected of having abducted Santiago, a very premature baby requiring constant care, from the maternity hospital on Monday 21 October between 11pm and 11.30pm, before setting off for Belgium.
Although an Amber Alert was issued on Tuesday morning, it was lifted without either the parents or the child, who was only 17 days old, having been found.
The French and Belgian authorities have been working closely together since Tuesday to locate the infant, whose state of health is particularly worrying.
