Drone launched at Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence amidst a war situation

On Saturday, October 19, the Israeli Prime Minister’s office announced that a drone had been fired at Benjamin Netanyahu’s private residence in Caesarea. The incident comes amid heightened tensions as Israel wages war against Hamas and the Lebanese Hezbollah.

Netanyahu’s office said that neither the Prime Minister nor his wife were at the scene at the time of the attack, and that there were no casualties. The Israeli army had previously reported that a drone, identified as coming from Lebanon, had struck a “structure” in this coastal town in central Israel. It was not confirmed whether Netanyahu’s residence was the targeted structure.

According to the army, the attack caused no injuries, and two other drones were intercepted.

Escalating tensions in northern Israel

Since Saturday morning, northern Israel has faced a barrage of projectile fire from Lebanon, triggering warning sirens in several towns. In response, Israeli strikes targeted, for the first time since the start of the conflict, the highway linking Beirut to northern Lebanon, causing the death of two people, according to the Lebanese authorities.

The Lebanese Hezbollah, an ally of Iran, continues to support the Palestinian Hamas, stepping up attacks against Israel with rocket and drone strikes. These actions follow Hamas’s large-scale attack from Gaza on southern Israel on October 7, 2023.

Conflict between Israel and Hezbollah

For several months, exchanges of fire between the Israeli army and Hezbollah have been increasing along the border, with a recent intensification of Israeli ground operations in southern Lebanon, supported by air strikes.
