A tragic accident occurred in the 19th arrondissement of Paris as the capital was hit by bad weather. A tree fell onto the roadway, killing a man and injuring two children, according to information provided by the police to H24 NEW.
Bad weather
The exact circumstances of the accident have yet to be clarified, but it seems that the tree’s fall was linked to adverse weather conditions. “In a context of heavy rain, a tree fell onto the public highway just as a man and two children were passing. The man, seriously injured, unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The two children were treated as a relative emergency”, said a police source.
An emergency intervention
According to François Dagnaud, mayor of the 19th arrondissement, the accident took place in a residence managed by the Paris Habitat social landlord, located on rue Curial. The trees in the residence were being pruned, but the tree involved in the incident could not be trimmed in time due to the rain that was beginning to fall. A medical-psychological emergency unit was dispatched to the scene to assist the witnesses and victims of this tragic event.
Paris is currently under an orange alert for the risk of rain and flooding, underlining the importance of remaining cautious in the face of extreme weather conditions.
