Grenoble: judicial inquiry opened for “murder” and “manslaughter” after the death of a municipal officer
Grenoble’s public prosecutor, Eric Vaillant, announced on Wednesday September 11 the opening of a judicial inquiry into the murder of municipal worker Lilian Dejean. Dejean was shot dead on Sunday by a hit-and-run driver.
Now headed by an examining magistrate, the investigation includes charges of “murder of a person entrusted with a public service mission” and “manslaughter”, aggravated by factors such as excessive speed, hit-and-run, and “possession of category B weapons”, as specified in the public prosecutor’s statement.
The suspect’s identity card, found in the wrecked vehicle, identified a 25-year-old man as the vehicle’s tenant, according to information from Le Dauphiné Libéré, confirmed by Eric Vaillant to the press.
