Heavy rain expected in Pyrénées-Atlantiques

Heavy rain is forecast for the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department from late afternoon on Friday. Météo-France has issued an orange alert for ‘rain and flooding’, with the onset of bad weather expected from 6pm. These stormy showers will gradually strengthen, also affecting the south of the Landes, and will persist throughout the night of Friday to Saturday.

The intense, and sometimes persistent, rain will cause significant accumulations, also affecting neighbouring départements. Météo-France is forecasting rainfall of between 50 and 80 mm, or even more in certain areas such as the Limousin. The alert could change for the Dordogne, Lot and Limousin, which are currently on yellow alert for the risk of rain and flooding.
