In a political context, “without the politics” Emmanuel Macron, in a letter, congratulated Joe Biden following the announcement of his withdrawal from the race for the presidency of the United States. Although the outcome of the November election is still uncertain, the Élysée hopes that “historic relations” between France and the United States will be preserved

“Whether a strategic reaction or a stroke of genius in the run-up to the U.S. presidential election, Joe Biden’s decision has left no one indifferent. And for good reason!

This Monday, July 22, Emmanuel Macron sent a letter to U.S. President Joe Biden, following his withdrawal from the race for next November’s U.S. presidential election.

“I recognize the courage, sense of responsibility and duty that have guided your decision,” said the French president, according to an extract published by the Élysée. “At a time when we have just celebrated together the 80th anniversary of D-Day, I hope that this spirit of partnership between our two nations will continue to nurture the historic relationship between France and the United States,” the message added.

In his letter, Emmanuel Macron does not explicitly mention a victory for either side. He expresses his hope of preserving the “historic relations” between the two countries, without commenting on the possibility of a victory for Donald Trump, whose approach to what is happening between Ukraine and Russia is radically opposed. Is “War and Peace” being rewritten as “War and War” or “Peace, War, Peace” or not? Answer in November.
