Following the announcement of Joe Biden’s withdrawal, Republican candidate Donald Trump declared that the Democratic president was “not fit” to run for a second term anyway, nor to assume the one he currently leads
“Joe Biden wasn’t fit to be a candidate, and he wasn’t fit to be president,” tackled Trump this Sunday, July 21, after his rival withdrew from the race for the White House.
“Crooked Joe was never fit for office. He never was,” Trump said on his Truth Social network. Fresh from his success at the Republican convention, and buoyed by the momentum created after the July 13 assassination attempt, Trump added: “We’re going to suffer because of his presidency, but we’re going to very quickly undo the damage he’s done.”
Several other Republicans expressed similar views, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, who explicitly called on Joe Biden to resign immediately.
Kamala Harris, “even worse” than Joe Biden according to Trump
Kamala Harris, who announced her candidacy with Joe Biden’s backing to replace him, will be “even worse” for the country than the outgoing president, according to Trump’s campaign team.
“Kamala Harris is every bit as ridiculous as Joe Biden,” said Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles, who head Trump’s campaign, in a joint statement. “Harris will be even worse for our country than Joe Biden.”
Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance, added: “Joe Biden has been the worst president of my lifetime, and Kamala Harris has been with him every step of the way. She’s responsible for all those failures and lied for nearly four years about Biden’s mental capacity, leaving the nation with a president who can’t do the job.”
While Joe Biden and Donald Trump were neck-and-neck in the polls for a long time, some opinion polls have put Trump in the lead since the June 27 debate. During this debate, Biden appeared physically diminished, searching for words and formulating sentences that were sometimes incomprehensible, which did not fail to elicit Trump’s mockery.
