The departments affected are: Allier, Ardennes, Aube, Cher, Côte-d’Or, Loire, Marne, Haute-Marne, Nièvre, Puy-de-Dôme, Saône-et-Loire and Yonne.
Significant risk of violent phenomena

Météo-France specifies that there will be a ‘clear deterioration in thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening’. In its bulletin, the meteorological institute highlights a stormy situation ‘requiring particular attention, as there is a significant risk of violent phenomena’.

These thunderstorms will be accompanied by hail, intense rainfall, significant electrical activity and strong gusts of wind ‘from south to north’ in ‘the orange vigilance zone’, adds Météo-France. The weather is expected to improve on Saturday night.

A calm first part of the day

This weather episode is due to a clash of air masses between very warm air coming up from North Africa and cooler air arriving at the end of the day from the west.

The first part of the day will be calm over the north-eastern part of the country. Temperatures of up to 35°C are forecast in the Mediterranean hinterland, while in Paris temperatures will climb to 33°C.
