The last Council of Ministers of the Attal government was held on Tuesday morning
The government’s resignation will be made official by Emmanuel Macron on the evening of Tuesday July 16, after the last Council of Ministers was held at the Élysée Palace in the morning. From Tuesday evening onwards, the government will manage “current affairs”, i.e. urgent matters and the continuity of public service.
“We could have disappeared, we avoided the worst, the future is to be written”, declared Gabriel Attal at the meeting. The Prime Minister will return to the Élysée Palace in the afternoon for a meeting with Emmanuel Macron, according to information from franceinfo. Gabriel Attal is also preparing for the election to the presidency of the National Assembly. A new meeting of the Ensemble pour la République group is scheduled for Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., according to corroborating sources.
During his speech, Gabriel Attal expressed his gratitude. “As I address you for what could be the last Council of Ministers of the government you have honored me with leading, three words come to mind: gratitude, passion and duty,” he told the President of the Republic. He also praised the “exceptional sense of duty” of “the entire government team”, with whom they have tackled every reform and every project, even the most unpopular.
