A government taking shape
During his speech at the National Assembly, the leader of the Socialist Party stated that he would be willing to take on the role of Prime Minister, but only within the framework of a constructive dialogue with the other members of the New Popular Front. Asked whether he felt qualified to take on this responsibility, Olivier Faure replied positively, declaring that he would be ready to assume the role on the evening of the second round of the legislative elections, subject to an approach based on dialogue and consultation with his partners.
He also expressed his opposition to any form of unilateral imposition of points of view, stressing the importance of consensus and democracy within the Popular Front. In addition, Olivier Faure pledged to govern progressively, seeking agreements that would avoid recourse to extreme measures such as the use of Article 49.3 of the Constitution.
