Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, Nicolas Sarkozy’s wife, was summoned to appear before a judge on Tuesday July 9, in connection with the Takieddine affair, for possible indictment. According to information from H24 NEWS, she is suspected of “concealment of witness tampering” and “criminal conspiracy to prepare the offenses of swindling and corruption of foreign public officials”

Although unlikely, it is possible that Carla Bruni will be placed under the status of “assisted witness”. This summons follows on from her open hearing on May 2.

The affair dates back to 2020, with the “Sauver Sarko” communications operation involving a dozen protagonists. This operation aimed to get Ziad Takieddine to retract his accusations against Nicolas Sarkozy concerning Libyan financing. Takieddine was to have received over 600,000 euros in exchange for his retraction, communicated via the media and an official document.

Among the key players in this operation was Mimi Marchand, a close friend of Carla Bruni and an influential figure in the celebrity press. The courts have uncovered clues suggesting Carla Bruni’s involvement in this operation.

Michèle (Mimi) Marchand had justified her frequent visits to Nicolas Sarkozy’s home by claiming that she was visiting her friend, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. However, investigations revealed that Carla Bruni had deleted all messages exchanged with Marchand in June 2021, the date of Marchand’s indictment.

The judge also believes that Carla Bruni may have used a secret telephone line to receive messages from Mimi Marchand on the progress of the operation.
