Prisca Thévenot and her deputy were attacked in Meudon during the legislative campaign; four people were arrested

Prisca Thévenot, government spokeswoman and outgoing Member of Parliament for Hauts-de-Seine, and her deputy, were attacked in Meudon on Wednesday

According to H24 NEWS, confirming a report by Europe 1, the two women and an activist were attacked by a group of around fifteen people. Four individuals, including three minors, were taken into custody. Two of the victims were hospitalised. The Nanterre public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into violence in a group with a weapon and violence against a public figure in a group with a weapon.

Following the incident, Gabriel Attal, Prime Minister and candidate in the 10th constituency of Hauts-de-Seine, strongly condemned the attack on social network X, stating that such acts of violence and intimidation are incompatible with democracy. He expressed his total solidarity with the candidate and her teams, calling for a collective response to the growing climate of violence and hatred.

Stéphane Séjourné, Minister for Foreign Affairs and candidate in the 9th constituency of Hauts-de-Seine, also expressed his deep shock at the incident and said that violence has no place in our democratic system. Other political figures such as Stanislas Guerini, Olivia Grégoire, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra and Yaël Braun-Pivet also strongly condemned the attack.
