A tragic shooting broke out at a wedding in Thionville (Moselle), raising the death toll to two and injuring four

The events took place on the night of Saturday 29 to Sunday 30 June, at around 1am, at the Eden Palace reception hall, where around a hundred people were attending the ceremony. Three hooded and heavily armed individuals burst through the entrance to the hall and opened fire on the guests outside, as well as on those in the entrance hall.

According to the initial investigation, the assailants used two assault rifles and a pump-action shotgun, firing several dozen shots before fleeing in an all-terrain vehicle. Video surveillance of the scene could provide crucial information for understanding the circumstances and motive behind this attack. At present, the investigation has been entrusted to the Moselle National Police’s Organised and Specialised Crime Directorate (DCOS), under the supervision of the specialised inter-regional court (Jirs) in Nancy.

The authorities are continuing to explore all possible avenues to determine the reasons behind this violent act, which has deeply shocked the local community and beyond.
