The bad weather that hit a large part of France on the evening of Saturday 29 June caused casualties in Aube. A tree was blown over by the wind and fell on a car
The violent storms on Saturday 29 June caused a number of casualties. According to the mayor of Rosnay-l’Hôpital, Brice Martin, and the fire brigade, quoted by France 3, three people were killed when trees were blown over by the bad weather.
The deputy mayor witnessed the accident, observing a hundred-year-old chestnut tree break “at a height of 5 metres” under the force of the wind and collapse “violently” onto a vehicle on the departmental road 396.
“There were four people in the car. Three people died. A fourth person is between life and death. All were from the area. They were on their way home”, the mayor told France 3. A photo of the scene was shared on Facebook.
The mayor regrets that some local residents took to the road despite warnings. This département, like 34 others, was under an orange alert from Météo-France. The alert has since been lifted for the whole country. “Some people are even driving in the water”, he laments.
